The Shield: August 2020

In this month’s newsletter we highlight the benefits of our daily Zoom team meetings.  The meetings facilitate our flexible working arrangements and allow our staff working in the office and those working from home to “check in” and react in real time to issues on our telephone advice line.

We also provide a simple summary of the ASIC v Westpac case. It is not often that responsible lending cases go to court, so this Federal Court decision had led to a lot of discussion.

We said a fond farewell to Sara as she starts her maternity leave, and we are delighted to have Nadia return to CCLSWA to cover Sara’s leave. Nadia has worked with us previously and is one of our volunteering alumni.

We welcome two new board members and celebrate Gemma’s birthday!

To round off a busy month, we are delighted that our nomination, Sharryn Jackson from Community Legal WA, won the Rona Okely Award at this year’s virtual Consumer Protection Awards.
