CCLS are dedicated to sharing knowledge and empowering the community. Our Community Legal Education programs strive to equip individuals and organisations with the tools they need to navigate what can be sometimes a very a complex legal landscape in consumer and credit law.

CCLS attends South Metro Tafe
CCLS had the pleasure of presenting to Diploma of Financial Counselling students at South Metropolitan TAFE. CCLS collaborates closely with financial counsellors and these presentations allow us to get to know the students, establish relationships and discuss how CCLS can support their future work as financial counsellors. Thank you for having us!
The CLE team at CCLS presented to the incredible senior social group, Wider Vision, in Bassendean. With over 25 years of dedicated service as a non-profit association, Wider Vision has been a beacon of information and socialisation for its members. Our session "Scams and Scam Prevention” provided the engaged and enthusiastic members of Wider Vision with invaluable insights to protect themselves against scams, ensuring their safety and well-being. Thank you to Wider Vision for their warm reception and active participation. Thank you also to the Northern Suburbs Community Centre for their valuable partnership, which made this event possible.

Rowan Kelly and David Ryan recently provided training and education on "The Scourge of Scams and Cons" at WACOSS, with people attending in person and online. Scams are more prevalent and sophisticated than ever before, and it is important to provide practical tips on what people can do to avoid scams, how we can help them if they are scammed, and insight on where we think changes need to be made.

CCLS’ solicitor, Georgia Turco teamed up with Northern Suburbs Community Legal Centre Solicitor, Stacey Price to present to students at Balga TAFE with a focus on Scams Awareness. The students, who are studying English as a second language, welcomed the visit as scams are such a prevalent issue in their community at present.

CCLS met with committee members from Sisterhood Iqro WA, an Islamic Education and Social Welfare Support community organisation. We took time to understand what their members would like to know about financial and consumer law issues. We are looking forward to collaborating on a series of future workshops.

We can offer free interactive workshops to community legal centres, financial counsellors, community groups, and community worker organisations in Western Australia. 

We understand that each community group or organisation will have unique needs, challenges, and interests. This is why we tailor our presentations, for each delivery, to ensure impactful and engaging content. 

What do our workshops cover?

Our workshops cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Loan contracts, encompassing home loans, car loans, credit cards, and payday loans.
  • Situations of hardship and how to navigate them effectively.
  • Unsolicited Consumer Agreements and understanding your rights in such situations.
  • Scams, how to avoid them and what are your consumer rights.
  • Responsible lending obligations of credit providers.
