As a Telephone Advice Line (TAL) Volunteer Paralegal, you will be on the front lines providing crucial advice and support to West Australians seeking guidance on their financial and consumer rights. With the support and guidance of experienced solicitors, you will learn legal skills on the job and have direct contact with clients.

By volunteering with CCLS, you will be helping to increase access to justice for all West Australians and making a tangible difference in your community. You will also be joining a supportive team of dedicated individuals who are committed to making a difference.

If you have great communication skills, a desire to experience law in action, and legal skills to the level of the penultimate year of a law degree, we want to hear from you.

We will also cover the cost of obtaining a National Police Clearance Certificate for successful volunteers.

The atmosphere here in the office is amazing. Whether you’re stuck on a complicated call or dealing with a sensitive matter, all the staff rally around and provide such a strong support system for each other. Sometimes it’s humour, most of the time it’s chocolate, but no matter what it is that you need, everyone is ready to step up and provide it.

By far what I have enjoyed most in my time here is the ability to speak directly with clients and assist them through their legal issue, their gratitude in receiving their legal advice is so rewarding and I look forward to the many conversations I get to have each week.

I enjoyed being in a supportive and inspiring environment and the independence given to work on the projects, but also collaboration when it is necessary. I also liked the check-ups and seeing if we were doing ok and staying on track to finishing our tasks. Everyone is also very welcoming and understanding of what I don't know, and they are willing to teach me.

The work environment is supportive, and the resources given are sufficient. It is a great place to learn and give back to the community.
