NACLC Conference 2016

This year, CCLSWA is happy to say that the National Association of Community Legal Centres (NACLC) Conference will be held in Fremantle! The conference has been running annually since 1979, though the last time it was held in Western Australia was in 2009.

The conference provides an important opportunity for workers from Community Legal Centres to gather together to share experiences and learn from each other, whilst also hearing from inspirational and interesting speakers.

In line with this year’s theme for the conference, Innovation and collaboration for better justice outcomes, CCLSWA’s Principal Solicitor Faith Cheok will be holding a session on Innovation and collaboration: the use of volunteers in social justice, alongside Helen Pearce, the CEO of The Humanitarian Group, and David Kernohan, the CEO of the Mental Health Law Centre (WA). This session will be held on Thursday 11 August 2016 between 11:00am-12:30pm.

The conference will run from Wednesday 10 August 2016 to Friday 12 August 2016 at the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle, 46-54 Marine Terrace, Fremantle, Western Australia. In addition, Tuesday 9 August 2016 will be the networking day for the conference.
Last year, Faith Cheok and CCLSWA solicitors, Curtis Ward and Gemma Mitchell attended the conference in Melbourne. Click here for our article about the 2015 NACLC conference.
