CCLSWA is committed to improving the rights of consumers of financial services and consumer goods through policy and law reform.

In 2013 – 14 staff made 18 submissions to various policy and law reform agencies. For example

  • A submission was made on reforming of the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act
  • Involvement with Australian Securities and Investment Commission Money Smart financial literacy forum
  • Round table discussion on external dispute resolution schemes for clients

CCLSWA provides a voice on policy issues and proposed reforms to Western Australian legislation and nationally on issues such as reforms to the National Consumer Credit Code that affect consumers. Other key policy activities are directed at lobbying for changes to unfair industry practices. In such policy activities, CCLSWA aims to work with other consumer groups to present a consolidated consumer voice.
