Recently, CCLSWA has become a signatory to the joint submission that was put together by Consumer Action Law Centre. It is on the exposure draft of the Treasury Laws Amendment (Design and Distribution Obligations and Product Intervention Powers) Bill 2018.

This submission built on a previous joint submission that was made in March 2017.

The submission advocates for improving consumer outcomes by designing products that meet customer needs, rather than just selling existing products. It is an interesting submission as it features the emerging area of “buy now, pay later” schemes.
