On the 13 and 20 October 2015, two of our CCLSWA solicitors, Gemma Mitchell and Curtis Ward, together with volunteer paralegal Nadia-Rose Agnello, presented to consumer law students at the University of Western Australia. Students learned about the service’s two main practice areas – the National Credit Code and Australian Consumer Law – and how to apply these legislative provisions in a real-life context.
Topics covered included:
- Responsible lending;
- Financial hardship;
- Payday loans;
- Unsolicited consumer agreements;
- Consumer guarantees; and
- Unfair contract terms
Many thanks to our three presenters for their hard work in preparing for the lectures, which were extremely well-received by the students.
