According to the Federal Court of Australia, displaying a ‘Do Not Knock’ sticker is equivalent to asking a door-to-door salesperson to leave your premises. The Court has ruled that ignoring a ‘Do Not Knock’ sticker is punishable by a fine of up to $50 000, and has issued a total of $1m in such penalties to one energy retailer and its marketing subcontractor.
