We’re incredibly fortunate in our WA bubble to enjoy the return of some ‘normality’. While we continue to practice social distancing in the office, this hasn’t stopped us from having a great month.

You may have spotted us at the annual Blackstone Careers Fair, our first big event since COVID restrictions have lifted.

In this month’s newsletter, you can check out the amazing educational piece commissioned from our very own ex-volunteer, Parveen Gupta, to raise awareness of predatory debt management firms.

You can also read all about how we collaborated with CHOICE, Indigenous Consumer Assistance Network Ltd and Financial Counselling Australia to make submissions to a Parliamentary Inquiry into food security in remote communities.

Follow the link in this month’s Shield if you would like to read the submission and hear our Managing Solicitor be interviewed about our submissions on ABC Kimberley.

We also took part in a National Day of Action as part of the vital Raise the Rate for Good campaign.

In exciting news, we are in the process of writing a series of podcasts in conjunction with Community Legal WA. Our first topic will focus on the traps of payday loans. Stay tuned for our pilot podcast episode!
