New Changes to Privacy Laws– Consumer Credit Repayment History Information

From 12 March 2014, changes to the Privacy Act 1998 (Cth) allow credit reporting agencies to record an individual’s consumer credit repayment history information (“RHI”) on their credit file. RHI is information about whether the individual has met their consumer credit payment obligations.  However, even though credit files will not show RHI until 12 March 2014, the RHI can relate to payments made or missed from 12 December 2012.
